Muscadines are North America’s native super-grape, famous across the South for their rich flavor and incredible health benefits! Unlike traditional grocery store table grapes, muscadines grow individually in small clusters rather than large bunches. They feature a thick, protective outer skin, a incredibly sweet and juicy center, and are packed with natural antioxidants and polyphenols.
Picking muscadines is easy and fun for all ages!
Look for Full Color: Depending on the variety, ripe muscadines turn a warm bronze/gold or a deep, dark purple. Avoid greenish grapes.
The Touch Test: A perfectly ripe muscadine gives slightly when squeezed gently.
The Easy Release: Gently cup the grape and give it a slight twist or pull. Ripe grapes will roll right off the stem into your hand with minimal effort. If it resists, let it sit on the vine a little longer to ripen!
Basket Care: Place your picked grapes gently into the baskets we provide at check-in.
Water & Hydration: Bring plenty of drinking water, especially during warm summer harvest days.
Sun & Insect Protection: Sunscreen, wide-brimmed hats, and bug repellent make walking the rows much more comfortable.
Comfortable Footwear: Sneakers or sturdy boots are best for walking through grass and soil.
